Tarik Banzi completed
his Masters and Doctoral studies in Fine Arts at the Complutense
University in Madrid, Spain. The Facultad de Bellas Artes of the
Complutense University is the reconditioned Royal Academy of Fine
Arts of San Fernando where many master artists of this century
have studied, including Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. It is
one of the most prestigious Universities of Spain. Tarik completed
his undergraduate work at the National School of Fine Arts, Tetuan
Morocco. founded in 1945 by the Spanish govt. and directed by
Mariano Bertuchi importing the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San
Fernando teaching programIt is a school that was established by
the Spanish when Tetuan was the capitol of the Spanish Protectorate
in Morocco. The Granadino (from Granada, Spain) painter Mariano
Bertuchi, established and directed the conservatory for many years,
setting a strict curriculum modeled on the "disciplline of
the old masters," a rigurious study that included mastering
classical techniques in drawing and sculpting from live models
as well as modern techniques. Perhaps as a result of the conservatory,
or somthing in Tetuan that uniquely contributes to the arts, but
all of Moroccos finest painters have come from Tetuan including
